Who are we

Yes …Fostoria is our name, however, we are about all American elegant glass companies; Cambridge, Duncan, Greentown, Imperial, Heisey, and Westmoreland, to name just a few. Sadly, today none of these glass houses exists. Organizations like Fostoria Glass Collectors, Inc., carry the awesome responsibility to help preserve the history of the American handmade glassware industry.

In April 1990, six people gathered together to form the Fostoria Glass Society of Southern California. In 1994 we incorporated as a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization under the name of Fostoria Glass Collectors, Inc., dedicated to the study of Fostoria glass and the preservation of American handmade glassware. We financially support the Fostoria Glass Museum in Fostoria, Ohio, the Historical Glass Museum in Redlands, California, the West Virginia Museum of Glass in Weston, West Virginia, and national glass organizations such as Fostoria, Cambridge, Imperial and others. We also publish Study Guides. These Guides are designed to further the collectors’ knowledge of American made glassware. We publish Glass Works, a 24-page periodical, six times a year. All issues are in color!

Today, almost fifteen years later, the membership continues to grow with over 215 enthusiastic glass collectors throughout the country! About 30 to 40 members attend the monthly meetings, which are held on the first Sunday of each month. At the meetings members see an outstanding program where American made glassware is studied, followed with refreshments, and ending with a dazzling display of Show and Tell. All collectors are welcome.
